Drive
through this spectacular holiday light show in the comfort of your own
car. Lights in the Parkway is fun for all ages. “Lights” has become
an annual tradition for many throughout the Lehigh Valley and beyond.
Dazzling
new animated displays are now part of this glowing show.
These larger-than-life light spectaculars join
traditional favorites set to music, transforming more than a mile of one of
Allentown’s most beautiful parks, Lehigh Parkway, into a winter
wonderland. Featuring hundreds of thousands of brilliant lights – this
attraction will brighten your holiday season. Visitors will experience
tunnels, favorite holiday scenes and more.
Lights
in the Parkway can be viewed on Wednesdays – Sunday from Friday, November 25 –
Saturday, December 24 and nightly December 26 – 30 from 5:30pm – 10pm. Lights
in the Parkway is closed on Christmas Day.
Admission
is $12 per car, $22 per commercial van, minibus and limo, and $45 per bus.
Tickets may be purchased in advance online at www.lightsintheparkway.com or lightsintheparkway.eventbrite.com.
Credit card sales are available online in advance and at the event. Cash or
check is also accepted at the event (cash preferred).

Another
exciting feature for this year’s event: the Sixth Annual Lights in the Parkway
5K and Walk! The city has again partnered with Run Lehigh Valley to
provide this unique opportunity to enjoy the spectacular display. The event
will take place on Wednesday, November 23 beginning at 7pm for runners
with walkers to follow. Interested persons can register and see the
course at www.runlehighvalley.com.
Space is limited. No race day registration is accepted.
At
the end of the route, patrons are invited to visit the Gift Barn which features
a large selection of one-of-a-kind decorations, ornaments
and holiday collectibles for everyone on your holiday shopping
list. Hot chocolate, popcorn, cookies and other refreshments are also
offered inside the Gift Barn. Credit cards are accepted in the Gift Barn.
New
for 2016: Stop by Percy Ruhe (Alton) Park, located at 1519 Oxford Dr. to skate
on the city’s synthetic ice skating rink, set up on the lighted basketball
courts. Bring your own skates or rent for $2, to support local Allentown
non-profits. Specialty coffee and hot chocolate beverages are available at The
Perk Up Truck on site.

The
city of Allentown’s Parks Department is the creative talent behind Lights in
the Parkway. Parks’ supervisors, Jason Hertz and Michelle McGinniss and
parks staff have provided the lighting expertise needed to produce just the
right illumination, shadow and silhouetting effects for this imaginative wonderland.
Lights
in the Parkway has entered a new era with the commitment
to use energy-efficient LED lights in all new displays and to begin converting
all existing displays to LED. LED lights use 85% less energy than traditional
bulbs and last about four times longer.
