The Marine Band of Allentown is pleased to
announce the opening of their 2016 Concert Series on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May
8, 2016 at West Park beginning at 3:00pm. No celebration honoring our mothers
would be complete without flowers and fond memories, so sit back and enjoy the
band’s performance of the Spanish march “A Bunch of Roses” and Rossano
Galanto’s “A Childhood Remembered.” In keeping with its tradition of providing
a wide variety of music of interest to all ages, the Marine Band of Allentown’s
program will also include such songs as excerpts from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s
“South Pacific” arranged by Erik Leidzén, “Salvation is Created” by Pavel
Tchesnokoff, “The Fairest of the Fair” by John Philip Sousa, and the regal
sounds of “London Suite” composed by Eric Coates and arranged by Gerrard
Williams. For TV science fiction fans who followed the travels of the Time Lord
from the planet Gallifrey from 1963-1989, Ron Grainer’s “Doctor Who” theme song
will appeal to all Dr. Who fans. And last, but not least, for those who like to
swoon and croon, “Let Me Call You Sweetheart” will invite everyone to sing
along and dance, if you wish! All 2016 Concerts are free and open to the
public. Come early, bring a friend and enjoy the latest issue of the Marine
Band’s newsletter containing the full program, a short but often challenging
quiz, information about the Marine Band of Allentown, and a listing of all the
Marine Band concerts that will take place in 2016. Sunday, May 8, 3:00pm, West
Park, Allentown, PA. We look forward to entertaining you on Mother’s Day!
