ALLENTOWN, PA-The Baum School
of Art proudly presents An Artistic Discovery, the longest-running
congressional art competition in the country. For the past 33 years, The Baum
School of Art has hosted this prestigious visual arts event. High schools
located within the 15th Congressional District are invited to submit
two-dimensional work by students in their art programs. The works will be hung
in the David E. Rodale and Rodale Family Galleries from April 21-May 5, 2016.
An awards reception will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at 10:00am at The
Baum School of Art. The event is free and open to the public.
During the awards reception,
Congressman Charles Dent will present national commendations to the winning
students, who also receive state commendations from State Senator Pat Browne’s
office, Baum School of Art scholarships, and cash awards. Special recognition
will be given to the first-place winning artist, whose work will represent the
15th Congressional District by being displayed for one year in the
Capitol’s Cannon Tunnel Gallery in Washington D.C. A total of ten awards will
be presented and teachers, students, and parents are encouraged to attend.
This year’s jurors are
Heather Rodale and Shelbi Stoneback and the exhibition is generously sponsored
by BB&T. All art exhibitions and receptions at The Baum School of Art are
free and open to the public.
