"The Large Flowerheads" at West Park Saturday

07/11/2018

“The Large Flowerheads” will be performing as part of the Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation’s 2018 Saturday in the Park concert series at historic West Park on Saturday, July 14 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. West Park is located between 15th and 16th Street between Linden and Turner streets.

Named after a carton of artificial flowers spotted in a warehouse rehearsal space, “The Large Flowerheads” consist of Maureen “Moe” Jerant on drums and guitar, Greg Geist on rhythm guitar and drums, Billy Trexler on lead guitar and electric sitar, John Harkins on keyboards and bass and Colleen Zajacik on bass guitar and percussion.

The Large Flowerheads enthusiastically bring to life the musical sights & sounds of the '60s. The Lehigh Valley Music Awards have honored them as “Best Entertaining Band,” “Best Cover Band,” and Maureen "Moe" Jerant for "Best Drummer."

The Large Flowerheads have opened for Peter Noone & Herman’s Hermits, the 5th Dimension, The Guess Who, The Tubes, The Dan Band, and The Vogues. At Wildwood’s Sensational ‘60’s Weekend, they warmed up the crowd for the Grass Roots, Gary Puckett & the Union Gap, and Paul Revere & the Raiders.

“The Large Flowerheads” have performed at Musikfest Café, Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe PA, Sellersville Theater, Hollywood Casino in Hershey, Bayonne Summer Concert Series in Bayonne NJ, and TD Bank Amphitheater in Bensalem. They can also be seen performing at fairs, festivals and summer concert series throughout the region, including Musikfest.

The Snowie Food Truck will be featured during Saturday’s concert selling cool and refreshing shaved ice.

The City of Allentown’s Saturday in the Park Series features a wide variety of concerts in our parks during the summer of 2018. The series also features Hector Rosado and Orchestra “Hache,” Lucky 7, The BC Combo, Crazy Hearts, and the Billy Bauer Band.

Saturday’s concert is the third of six Saturday concerts at West Park from Memorial Day to September 15. The full schedule is available in the city’s Adventure Allentown publication.
