Baseball & Softball Contest Champs Crowned

The City of Allentown crowned Major League Baseball® Jr. Home Run Derby™ and Scotts® Major League Baseball® Pitch Hit & Run™ competition champions this past Sunday at the William Allen High School baseball and softball fields.

Pitch Hit & Run™ is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball®. The 7/8 year old boys division was won by Eliazar Uloa. Tucker Heiser captured the 9/10 year old age group. Isaiah Osorio was victorious in the 11/12 year old category. The 13/14 year old group crowned pitch champion Owen Moll, hit champion Patrick McNamara and run champion Chandler Rodriguez. Moll was the all-around champion. All six boys winners hail from Allentown.

Brianna Amey of Emmaus was the age 11/12 winner in the girls division and Marissa Christman of New Tripoli won the girls 13/14 year old event.

The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each division age group will advance to the Sectional Level of competition with the hope of advancing through four levels, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals during All-Star Week®.

The Home Run Derby™ competitions were won by Marcus Marmolejus Jr. of Catasauqua in the 12 and under division while McNamara earned the 14 and under title.

Local champions from both age divisions will advance to the Regional Level. Regional champions will advance to the National Finals which will take place during MLB® All-Star Week™.

The local contests were organized by the City of Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation.
