Allentown’s Party on the Deck will celebrate the fact that our downtown is “Under Construction!” The City of Allentown and Hamilton District Main Street Program are preparing for the best end of summer party - Party on the Deck – which is set for Thursday, August 22 on the top level of the Spiral Parking Deck at 8th and Linden streets from 5pm to 9pm. The Under Construction-themed event will feature live music by the M80 Band and performances by the Burning Hearts Fire and Light Theater!

This event takes place on a rooftop eight stories up at one of the Lehigh Valley’s historic icons – the famous Hess’ Spiral Parking Deck that boasts one of the most unique views in the city. It offers phenomenal views of the city’s skyline including Coca-Cola Park and Downtown Allentown, as well as a birds-eye view into much of the construction going on downtown. Attendees can enter to win the best construction worker costume contest, or play a variety of themed games, for chances to win great prizes!

“This event has evolved since its premiere but its essence remains the same – offering a really unique event with a soundtrack of great live music equaling a ton of fun,” said City of Allentown Special Events Manager, Tara Craig. “The signs of construction will make the view even more unique for this year’s event.”

“Downtown Allentown continues to be an attraction for delicious food, fun activities, and great entertainment,” said Meg Hill, Hamilton District Main Street Manager. “Our Party on the Deck event creates a sense of community cohesion for residents and downtown employees alike while offering a phenomenal view of the development taking place all around us.”

This is a 21 and over event. The cost for the event is only $10 in advance and $15 at the door. The price includes: admission, parking, entertainment, and two drink vouchers (alcohol, soft drinks, or water). The event will be catered by Bada Bingg.

As a tribute to the construction theme, attendees wearing a hard hat to the event on the evening of August 22 will receive $1 off the $15 regular admission price.

Party on the Deck attendees will be able to sign a steel beam that will be visible in the PPL Center. The public is also invited to sign the beam at that time. Those interested in signing, but not attending Party on the Deck, are not required to purchase a ticket.

Party on the Deck is presented by the City of Allentown and the Hamilton District Main Street Program and is supported by the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, City Center Lehigh Valley, The Morning Call, Media Arts Group, Wise Guys Beer Depot, the Allentown Brew Works, Dan’s Camera City, Action Party Rental, RCN, Adams Outdoor Advertising, WFMZ, and WLEV Radio.

This event is rain or shine. In the event of rain, the party moves down one level!
