City Council voted 7-0 last night to override Mayor Ed Pawlowski's veto of the council-approved 2017 General Fund budget.

The vote sets the stage for a possible Lehigh County Court fight over what the mayor believes are council's violations of the city's Home Rule Charter during the budget approval process.

The budget holds the line on property taxes.  It increases the Earned Income Tax for residents to 1.975%.  The mayor's proposed budget had included an increase to 2%.  It also increases certain golf course and recreation fees.

The budget takes effect January 1, 2017.
