Intermittent Single Lane Closures for 15th Street Bridge Project

The contractor for the 15th Street Bridge and Ward Street Bridge construction contract in the City of Allentown will be setting bridge deck pans on the 15th Street Bridge over Martin Luther King Jr. Drive during the upcoming weeks.
Motorists travelling on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive should expect single lane closures beginning Monday, July 29, 2013. Flagmen will direct traffic through the work area during the setting in place of the bridge deck pans. The operation will be intermittent in nature during regular working hours and the single lane closures can be expected to occur during the next (4) four week period.
The deck pans are metal forms that span between the beams. The deck pan placement is the first stage of preparation prior to the placement of steel reinforcing bars and the concrete deck pour for the bridge.
J.D. Eckman Inc. of Atglen, Pennsylvania is the general contractor for the $8.4 million project. Funding for the project is 80% Federal, 15% State, and 5% City.
