The City of Allentown will hold an Open House on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at Central Elementary School at 829 West Turner Street to solicit input on the development of a city-wide Community Development Strategy. The goal of the Community Development Strategy is to improve the quality of life and economic vitality of city residents and the community as a whole.

Elements of the Community Development Strategy include streetscape and façade improvements, blight elimination, availability of affordable and safe housing, clean neighborhoods, business development, employment opportunities, youth engagement and healthy living, recreation, arts and cultural programs.

The Open House is an opportunity for residents to offer ideas and opinions at their own pace, by going to stations that address the topics that most interest attendees, and asking questions directly of city employees. There will be display boards at each station where participants will have an opportunity to indicate their top priorities.
