City Ready for Snow Storm

City Ready for Snow Storm

The city of Allentown is prepared for what is being described as the first major snow storm of the season extending from Friday night into Sunday.

According to Interim Director of Public Works Craig Messinger, plows and salt spreaders are mounted on 45 trucks to make traveling in the city as safe as possible. “We have the equipment and manpower ready for whatever Mother Nature brings,” said Messinger.

The city has an ample supply of road salt and anti-skid material. Virtually the entire road network in the city has been brined.

City residents are advised to wait until plows have been down their street before shoveling driveways and ask residents to avoid throwing snow back onto the streets.

The city’s "Snow Operations Hotline" will be ready to go at 7am Saturday at 610-437-7669.

Waste Management crews will get an early start on their garbage and recycling collections in the city tonight and Friday night. Crews will be on their routes by 9 o’clock tonight and by 8 o’clock on Friday night.
