The general contractor for the American Parkway Bridge project, New Enterprise Stone and Lime, Co., Inc., and their subcontractor Wexcon, Inc. will be performing waterline tie-in work at the intersection of Front Street and Furnace Street during the nights of Tuesday, October 13 and Wednesday, October 14.
Due to insufficient roadway width to detour around the work areas within Front Street and Furnace Street, the work must be performed at night. Work will commence at 7pm and continue until 7am on both evenings. Some local residents will see their water service interrupted during these time periods until the new waterlines are connected. Water will be available to local residents during the day on both days.
Front Street will be open to local traffic only after 7:00 pm on both evenings. Northbound traffic will be directed away from entering Front Street at Tilghman Street. Southbound traffic approaching the work area on Front Street will be diverted west on Bridge Street toward the Sumner Avenue intersection. Front Street and the normal Jordan Drive detour will be opened during both days.
The work schedule of Tuesday and Wednesday evenings is weather dependent and may be shifted if rainfall is expected. The same shutdown period for the water service and traffic diversion will occur on any alternate days if bad weather affects the original schedule.
