Lights in the Parkway Opens November 28

Allentown’s 19th season of Lights in the Parkway opens Friday, November 28 at 5:30pm in Lehigh Parkway.

Drive through this spectacular holiday light show in the comfort of your own car. Dazzling new animated displays are now part of this glowing show. These larger-than-life light spectaculars join traditional favorites set to music, transforming more than a mile of one of Allentown’s most beautiful parks, the Lehigh Parkway, into a winter wonderland. Featuring hundreds of thousands of brilliant lights – this attraction will brighten your holiday season. Visitors will experience tunnels, favorite holiday scenes and more. “Lights” has become an annual tradition for many throughout the Lehigh Valley and beyond. Lights in the Parkway is fun for all ages.

Lights in the Parkway can be viewed from Friday, November 28 – Sunday, December 28 (except for Christmas) from 5:30pm – 10pm.

Admission is $12 per car, and $22 per commercial van, minibus and limo. A $2.00 off coupon is available at www.lightsintheparkway.com. Cash or check only is accepted at the ticket booth. Cash is preferred.

Another exciting feature for this year’s event: the fifth annual Lights in the Parkway 5K and Walk! The City of Allentown has again partnered with Run Lehigh Valley to provide this unique opportunity to enjoy the spectacular display. The event will take place on Wednesday, November 26 beginning at 7pm for runners with the walkers following. Interested persons can register and see the course at www.runlehighvalley.com. Space is limited. No race day registration is accepted.

At the end of the route, patrons are invited to visit the Gift Barn which features a large selection of one-of-a-kind decorations, ornaments and holiday collectibles for everyone on your holiday shopping list. Hot chocolate, popcorn, cookies and other refreshments are also offered inside the Gift Barn. There is also an opportunity to have photos taken with Santa Claus by Dan’s Camera City. Santa will be present at the gift barn opening weekend and Thursday through Sunday from 5:30-9:30 starting November 28 and ending on December 23. Visit Lights in the Parkway for a $3.00 off coupon to get a package as low as $16.99.

The City of Allentown’s Parks Department is the creative talent behind Lights in the Parkway. Park’s supervisor, Jason Hertz and his crew have provided the lighting expertise needed to produce just the right illumination, shadow and silhouetting effects for this imaginative wonderland.

Lights in the Parkway has entered a new era with the commitment to use energy-efficient LED lights in all new displays and to begin converting all existing displays to LED. LED lights use 85% less energy than traditional bulbs and last about four times longer.
