The City of Allentown announces the 2022 Fall Yard waste and leaf collection schedules.
YARD WASTE DROP-OFF
The last regularly scheduled day for the Yard Waste Site at 1401 Oxford Drive to be open is Saturday, November 19 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Yard Waste Site will also be open on Saturday, December 3 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. weather permitting.
CURBSIDE YARD WASTE RECYCLING COLLECTION
The last week of curbside yard waste collection is the week of Thanksgiving, Sunday, November 20 to Friday, November 25. Put yard waste out on your recycling night. Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday, the yard waste collection for Thursday night recyclers is cancelled November 24, and the last yard waste collection for Thursday night recyclers will be the night of December 1.

FALL LEAVES – mulching leaves with your lawnmower is best!
While raking or blowing leaves is a common Fall ritual for many, mow-mulching is an easy alternative that benefits all! Rather than removing them from your lawn, leave them where they lay and make a few passes with a lawnmower to mulch them and enhance the health of your yard.
Mulching the leaves on your lawn has many rewards, including a positive impact on the natural environment. The mulched leaves provide nutrients that will help the soil and lawn, as well as support the microorganisms and insects that live in the soil. Mulched leaves can also be used in garden beds and around shrub roots to act as a protective layer during the harsh winter months.
STREET LEAF COLLECTION SCHEDULE
District by district street cleaning of leaves will begin on Monday, October 24. Residents are reminded to keep the leaf piles about a foot away from the curb and to make sure there are no branches, rocks, or trash/debris in the piles. Residents are asked to keep nearby inlet or catch basin grates free of debris as well.

Saque los desechos del jardín en su noche de reciclaje. Debido al feriado de Acción de Gracias, la recolección de desechos de jardín para los recicladores del jueves por la noche se cancela el 24 de noviembre, y la última recolección de desechos de jardín para los recicladores del jueves por la noche será la noche del 1 de diciembre.

HOJAS DE OTOÑO: ¡lo mejor es triturar las hojas con su cortadora de césped!
Si bien rastrillar o soplar las hojas es un ritual de otoño común para muchos, ¡cortar el mantillo es una alternativa fácil que beneficia a todos! En lugar de quitarlos de su césped, déjelos donde están y haga algunas pasadas con una cortadora de césped para cubrirlos y mejorar la salud de su jardín.
Cubrir con mantillo las hojas de su césped tiene muchas recompensas, incluido un impacto positivo en el medio ambiente natural. Las hojas cubiertas con mantillo proporcionan nutrientes que ayudarán al suelo y al césped, así como a los microorganismos e insectos que viven en el suelo. Las hojas trituradas también se pueden usar en lechos de jardín y alrededor de las raíces de los arbustos para que actúen como una capa protectora durante los duros meses de invierno.
HORARIO DE RECOGIDA DE HOJAS DE CALLE
Distrito por distrito, la limpieza de calles de hojas comenzará el lunes 24 de octubre. Se recuerda a los residentes que mantengan las pilas de hojas a un pie de distancia de la acera y que se aseguren de que no haya ramas, rocas o basura/escombros en las pilas. Se les pide a los residentes que también mantengan las rejillas de la entrada o del sumidero cercanas libres de escombros.
