Street Closures for Festival & Parade

Saturday’s Blues Brews and Barbecue Festival and Sunday’s Lehigh Valley Puerto Rican Parade and Festival will result in some street closures in downtown and center city Allentown.

The 600, 700 and 800 blocks of Hamilton Street will all be closed from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Saturday, July 31.  Seventh and 8th streets will be closed from Linden Street to Walnut Street from approximately 8 a.m. until 11 p.m.

The festival will stretch from 9th & Hamilton streets and on Seventh Street from Walnut Street to Linden Street incorporating the Air Products (9th & Hamilton), Fegley’s Biergarten (812 Hamilton), Bru Daddy’s (732 Hamilton), Bell Hall (612 Hamilton) and Blended (Seventh St at the Arts Walk) stages.

On Sunday, August 1, the Puerto Rican Parade will impact Hamilton Street from 5th Street to 6th Street for parade staging at 10 a.m. The parade steps off at 12 noon. It will travel down Hamilton to 5th Street, north on 5th Street to Sumner Avenue and east to end at American Parkway. The parade is preceded by a flag raising ceremony at City Hall scheduled for 11 a.m.

The Puerto Rican Festival will be held on the grounds of Executive Education Academy Charter School at 555 Union Boulevard on the city’s East Side.
