Youth Baseball & Softball Contests

City youth have a chance to show-off their baseball skills the morning of Saturday, June 26 at the William Allen High School softball field. That’s when the City of Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation will conduct a free Major League Baseball® Pitch Hit & Run™ competition beginning at 10 a.m. and Major League Baseball® Jr. Home Run Derby™ at 11 a.m.

Pitch Hit & Run™ is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball® and offers.  boys and girls an opportunity to participate in an exciting baseball/softball skills competition. This national initiative gives boys and girls, ages 7 - 14, the chance to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities. There are two separate divisions of Pitch Hit & Run; baseball and softball.

Major League Baseball Pitch Hit & Run is a free program intended to encourage youth participation and emphasize the fun element of baseball/softball. Major League Baseball Pitch Hit & Run tests three of the most fundamental aspects of baseball/softball -- pitching, hitting and running. Participants will compete in each of the three components of Major League Baseball Pitch Hit & Run and accumulate a total score based on his/her performance.

Boys and girls are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through three levels of competition, including Team Championships and the Finals during the World Series™.

Major League Baseball® Jr. Home Run Derby™ powered by @MLBdevelops is a fun and exciting youth competition for talented youngsters to showcase their hitting abilities, with the opportunity of competing at the Finals during the World Series™. Boys and girls are divided into two age divisions: 12U and 14U and will have the chance to advance through three levels of competition. The Local Champions from both age divisions will advance to the Regional Level, and Regional Champions will advance to the Finals, which will take place during the 2021 World Series™.

All participants should register online at www.PitchHitRun.com and www.JrHRD.com  and plan to bring age verification (copy/picture of birth certificate or similar) to the competitions.
