Harry Crapser Honored

Those who frequent the city's West Park neighborhood are well familiar with Harry Crapser.  He has been a one man litter control volunteer since 2004 and now Mayor Ray O'Connell has recognized him for his efforts by proclaiming March 18, 2021 Harry Crapser Appreciation Day in Allentown.

Crapser was recognized at a recent meeting of city council and picked-up a copy of his proclamation today.

Harry is credited with picking-up 475 bags of litter in 2020 in the area bound by North 15th and North 16th streets and the 1500 block of Turner, Chew and Gordon streets.

Harry has worn out many litter tongs over the last 17-years.  Bureau of Recycling & Solid Waste Manager Ann Saurman presented Harry with a brand new pair today.

Crapser is a past winner of The Leonard Buck Distinguished Citizen award — named for Leonard Buck, who was instrumental in forming the city’s first crime watch.
