Portion of City Under Boil Water Advisory

Portion of City Under Boil Water Advisory

A Boil Water Advisory has been issued for a portion of the city following a massive Lehigh County Authority water main break early this morning on Devonshire Road between Mack Boulevard and 12th Street.

The 36” water main break resulted in low water pressure or no water in this portion of the city. As a result of this service outage, a boil water advisory has been issued for some city customers. *Refer to the customer impact map. https://www.lehighcountyauthority.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Customer-Impact-Map-Main-Break-Boil-Water-Advisory-12.27.2020.pdf

Please follow instructions for boiling your water until further notice. As a result of this service disruption, LCA may not be able to achieve proper disinfection of your water system, and there is an increased chance that your water may contain disease-causing organisms. LCA is issuing this Boil Water Advisory until two days of water quality tests have been completed to ensure no contamination has occurred.

Do not drink the water without boiling it first. Boiling the water will kill any bacteria that may be present in the water. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation until further notice.

This Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect until tests show no signs of coliform bacteria for two consecutive days. Go to www.lehighcountyauthority.org for information on when this advisory will be lifted.

If you have any questions or concerns about this Boil Water Advisory, please call Lehigh County Authority at 610-437-7515, or at 610-965-7341 for after-hours emergencies.
