Snow Emergency Declared on February 3rd

Mayor Ed Pawlowski declared a Snow Emergency in the City of Allentown at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 3, 2014 that went into effect at 12 noon that day. The Snow Emergency was lifted at 7am on Tuesday, February 4, 2014.

By ordinance, a “snow emergency,” requires owners to remove their vehicles from posted routes. Signs are posted on snow emergency routes, which are also published on the city website, www.allentownpa.gov. Vehicles left on designated routes during a snow emergency will be ticketed and towed. Parking is prohibited on the routes until the emergency is officially lifted. 

The Allentown Parking Authority provided seven free lot during the snow emergency:

“E” Lot 226 N. 9th St 

Residents are asked not to place items in the street in an attempt to save parking spaces. The city also requests resident participation in clearing snow from storm sewer drains and fire hydrants.

In addition,

Normal Sunday and Wednesday night trash and recycling collections in parts of the East Side and South Allentown were suspended Monday morning due to the winter storm. 

Waste Management finished collections in those affected areas Monday night.
