Driving Restrictions at E. Hamilton Intersection

Driving Restrictions at E. Hamilton Intersection
Damage to the traffic signal at E. Hamilton and Albert streets is resulting in new driving conditions at the intersection.

An April 8 auto accident knocked down the eastbound mast arms and damaged the traffic signal foundation. As a temporary measure, the city implemented a four-way stop at the intersection.

The city is securing a new PennDOT permit and emergency bid for replacing the mast arms. New PennDOT specifications require installation of a six-bolt pattern for the new foundation and mast arms to replace the existing pole. New mast arms availability is expected to take at least 2-to-4 months.

As a result, the city is going to change the traffic pattern to allow free-flow for E. Hamilton Street (eastbound/westbound), restricting left turns from eastbound Hamilton Street to Albert Street and allowing only right turn movement from Albert Street to Hamilton Street with stop condition.

The new pattern will be in place on Friday, April 17.
