The Allentown Bureau of Recycling and Solid Waste is announcing its Christmas and New Year’s Trash and Recycling Collection schedule.
• There will not be any trash or recycling collections in the City of Allentown on Christmas Eve night, Monday, December 24 and New Year’s Eve night, Monday, December 31.
• Next trash collection will be on Thursday night, December 27 and Thursday night, January 3. Ten bags of trash will be allowed on those nights only.
• Monday recyclers can place their recycling bins out on Thursday night, December 27 and Thursday night, January 3.
Please remember to recycle cardboard, gift boxes, wrapping paper and greeting cards in your recycling bin. Bows and metallic paper are not permitted.
Christmas trees and other yard waste will be collected on your recycling night the weeks of January 6 and January 20. Residents should take the tree out of the stand and remove all decorations. Trees may not be placed in a plastic bag. No artificial trees will be accepted. The collection will be weather dependent.
The Yard Waste Site at 1401 Oxford Drive will be open for City of Allentown residents only on Saturday, January 5, February 2 and March 2 from 10am to 12pm weather permitting for yard waste drop-off and electronics recycling. Electronics recycling is by appointment only.
Residents must call the Bureau of Recycling and Solid Waste at 610-437-8729 or visit the website at www.allentownpa.gov/recycle under Electronics - Additional Information to request an appointment. The Bureau will issue a voucher by mail or email to the resident which must be brought to the event at their appointed time.
There is a limit of three (3) TV or CRT limit per address per year, which is a reasonable amount that a household would dispose of in a year. There is no limit for other electronics such as printers, keyboards, laptops, CPUs, etc.
