Volunteers Working at Keck Park

Volunteers from Community Bike Works assisted by students from Muhlenberg College and Lehigh Gap Nature Center are working today to clean-up the mountain bike trail in Keck Park on the city’s east side.

Youth from Community Bike Works gave Mayor Ray O’Connell a tour of the trail this morning.

Volunteers are removing invasive plants from the park and replacing them with native plants as part of a daylong project assisted by the city of Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation.

According to its website, “Community Bike Works teaches life lessons through bicycles to the young people of Allentown and the Lehigh Valley who could benefit most. We serve 500 students each year in our Earn a Bike and Junior Earn a Bike programs, which are offered at our Allentown and East Allentown bike shop, at schools in the Allentown and Bethlehem school districts, and at the Orefield campus of KidsPeace.”
