The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) is recognizing the City of Allentown’s 2016 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) with a Certificate of Achievement.

According to the GFOA, a Certificate of Achievement “is presented to those government units whose annual financial reports are judged to adhere to program standards and represents the highest award in government financial reporting.” This marks at least the 16th consecutive year that the city’s CAFR has been so recognized.

The 2016 report was completed in June of 2017, and was presented to City Council in August by Zelenkofske Axelrod LLC, Certified Public Accountants of Jamison, Pennsylvania.

The GFOA also recognized Deputy Director of Finance & Treasury Debi Bowman with an award of Financial Reporting Achievement for being instrumental in the city achieving a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
