Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski will conduct a public meeting on a proposal to expand the Muhlenberg Student Residence Overlay District on Tuesday, September 19 at 7pm in the Sanctuary of the Church of the Mediator at 1620 Turner Street.

In response to neighborhood concerns, the City is proposing to expand the Muhlenberg Student Residence Overlay District by one block to the north and one block to the west. The meeting has been scheduled to detail the proposed change and give the public an opportunity to offer comments.

Under the proposed change, the north district boundary would be extended from Tilghman Street to Washington Street and the west district boundary would be extended from N 27th Street to North Broad Street.

City staff will be present at the meeting to provide an overview of current efforts to encourage students and landlords to comply with City Ordinances regarding noise, trash and other issues.

Letters are being mailed to residents of the Muhlenberg College area inviting them to the public meeting.
