Allentown Readies Municipal Swimming Pools
The City of Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation is busy getting swimming pools ready for the 2013 season.

Cedar, Jordan and Irving pools will open on Saturday, June 8. Mack Pool will open on Saturday, June 15.

“City employees, including our seasonal workers, have been on the job,” said Director of the Department of Parks & Recreation John Mikowychok. “Our pools are very important to our residents so we are going the extra mile to get them open.”

Daily admission is $5.50 for adults and $3.50 for children ages 6-to-17 at the Cedar Beach, Jordan and Mack pools. Admission is $2.00 for anyone age 6 and over at the Jordan Pool on weekends and on July 4. At Irving Pool the cost is $1.00 for anyone age 6 and over.

The pools are open to the public daily from 12 noon until 7pm.

Allentown’s two free spray park locations at Buck Boyle Park and 5th and Allen Street Park opened on Saturday, June 1. Hours are also 12 noon to 7pm daily.

Buying a pool pass for the summer is a great inexpensive way to spend time with your family. Swim passes are a great value.

Season Pass Rates:

Cedar, Jordan & Mack Pools -Adult $75.00, Junior $45.00 (ages 14-17) $35 for ages 6-13.

Irving Pool- $20.00 for anyone age 6 and over. 
 
City of Allentown residents over the age of 60 are eligible for free swimming passes. In order to claim a pass, senior citizens must come into the Recreation Office with proof of residency and a photo ID.

Residents are also urged to mark their calendars for Family Water Safety Day at Cedar Beach Pool on Friday, June 28. There is free admission to the pool for all participants from 10:00am-12:00pm. Activities include educational stations on improvised rescue equipment, life jackets, rescue breathing, boat and river safety, spinal injury prevention, children’s water safety video and calling 911.
