Allentown Health Bureau Nutrition and Physical Activity Manager Tina Amato is the recipient of the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Keystone Award. The award was presented at the annual state meeting of the Academy held April 25 in Bethlehem.

The Keystone Award recognizes Pennsylvania registered dietitians who have demonstrated outstanding professional standards through their leadership, willingness to serve, and efforts to advance the aims of the PA Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.

The PA Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics is an affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics which is the world's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals.

Amato is a PA Licensed Dietitian-Nutritionist. She received her Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition from the College of St. Elizabeth and her Masters of Science in Applied Nutrition from Rutgers University.

During her 25 years of service as a public health dietitian, Amato has spearheaded many innovative initiatives to impact public perceptions of healthy eating such as the 1% or Less Milk Campaign in the 1990’s and the award winning “Fruits & Veggies On the Move” truck in 2011.

Amato currently serves as the PA Academy annual meeting co-chair and has previously volunteered as the PA Dietetic Association annual meeting co-chair, Past President of the Lehigh Valley Dietetic Association, and Media Representative for the PA Dietetic Association.
