The City of Allentown will host a neighborhood block party in the1st and 6th Wards in partnership with the Cohesion Network, an organization that celebrates community diversity and neighborhood cooperation.
The block party caps the neighborhood planning activity recently completed for the 1st and 6th Wards as part of Allentown Vision 2030, the City’s current comprehensive and economic development plan.
The wards are located between the Lehigh River and Jordan Creek and Sumner Avenue and Union Street and are the first focus area for implementing the City’s neighborhood planning initiative.
The event will feature a pop-up neighborhood park conceptualized by students at Sheridan Elementary and Harrison-Morton Middle schools. Attendees will be encouraged to share their vision for how underutilized spaces can be repurposed to serve the needs of the community.
The block party will have a back-to-school theme with giveaways including backpacks, school supplies, and uniforms. There will also be games, music, artistic pedestrian crossing enhancement activity, free refreshments, and a film screening of Encanto beginning at dusk. Attendees are asked to bring a blanket or folding chair.
The event will be held on August 27 on the 400 block of Ridge Avenue from 6 to 10pm. All are welcome to attend.
La Ciudad de Allentown organizará una fiesta de vecindario en los distritos 1 y 6 en asociación con Cohesion Network, una organización que celebra la diversidad comunitaria y la cooperación entre vecindarios.
La fiesta culmina la actividad de planificación del vecindario recientemente completada para los distritos 1 y 6 como parte de Allentown Vision 2030, el plan actual de desarrollo económico e integral de la Ciudad.
Los distritos 1 y 6 están ubicados entre Lehigh River y Jordan Creek y Sumner Avenue y Union Street, y son las primeras áreas de enfoque para implementar la iniciativa de planificación de vecindarios de la Ciudad.

La fiesta tendrá un tema de regreso a la escuela con obsequios que incluyen mochilas, útiles escolares y uniformes. También habrá juegos, música, actividades artísticas para mejorar el paso de peatones, refrigerios gratuitos y una proyección de la película Encanto a partir del anochecer. Se les pide a los asistentes que traigan una manta o una silla plegable.
El evento se llevará a cabo el 27 de agosto en la cuadra 400 de Ridge Avenue de 6 a 10pm. Todos son bienvenidos.
