Halloween Parade on October 9

The city's annual Halloween Parade will be held on Saturday, October 9.

The parade will step-off from the Allentown Fairgrounds at 2 p.m. It will travel onto 17th Street from Liberty Street south to Hamilton Street and will proceed east, concluding at 9th Street.

The 2021 parade theme is “Fall in the City,” so spectators should prepare for beautiful hues representing the change of season and fall harvest decorations through the city!

The Grand Marshall for the 2021 parade is Brenda Fernandez, who was chosen based on her outstanding community contributions and Allentown Human Relations Commission award.

This year’s parade lineup features signature giant character balloons, floats created by local organizations and artists, and Lehigh Valley Phantoms mascot meLVin just in time for the opening of the 2021-2022 season.

The 2021 Allentown Halloween Parade brings an abundance of entertainment and representation, truly ALL Inspiring. The 2021 Juneteenth King & Queen, Lehigh County Agricultural Society Queen, and PRCP leadership coronation Queens are all participating. Allentown and local school district bands will be marching along with Executive Education Academy Charter School; the award-winning Epic Attraction Marching unit, a 501c3 non-profit youth marching organization hailing from Baltimore; and dozens of organizations, youth groups, and early education learning centers.

Street closures will be implemented from 12 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. along the parade route, including Hamilton Street and Liberty Street from 17th Street to 19th Street, and other affected streets along the route. The recommended detour routes for east and west bound traffic are Allen and Walnut streets. Seventeenth Street between Liberty and Turner streets will be open until 2 p.m.; police will be on the block between Liberty and Chew on 17th Street during the event to assist at the hospital crosswalk and with emergency vehicles. As the parade passes, all closures will be opened immediately in that vicinity.

Parade spectators and participants are encouraged to join in the excitement by using the Facebook and twitter tag “#hallentownparade” for the event.

The rain date for the parade is Sunday, October 10.

The parade will air on RCN and Service Electric Cable TV on Saturday, October 9. For more information, please visit www.allentownpa.gov/fallfestival.
