A dedication ceremony was held this morning for the "Welcome to Allentown" mural at the PPL substation at 120 S 8th Street.

The mural was created by award-winning artist Mila Sketch of Austin, Texas.

According to Allentown Director of Community & Economic Development Leonard Lightner, "this mural and other projects will enhance the aesthetics of the city, encourage connectivity through our diversity, and strengthen our community."

The mural showcases the essence of the city, using historical structures, vibrant colors, well known city buildings, like the PPL Tower, and city pride to create a breathtaking piece that speaks to any Allentown native or visitor.

The mural is a partnership of the city, the Allentown Arts Commission, Material Conservation and PPL Electric Utilities.
