The Allentown Fire Department is extending the permit period of childcare facilities and food establishments with permits expiring in March or April.
Permits expiring in March or April are being extended to June 30.
The department’s inspections cover items like exit signage, work smoking detectors and fire extinguishers installed and tested. Among other things the facilities are also required to have an approved fire safety plan.
A number of childcare facilities and food establishments are currently closed to comply with Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf’s order affecting non-essential businesses. Food establishments are still permitted to serve take-out, but seating is not permitted.
