The Philadelphia Flyers, parent club of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, are pleased to announce they will hit the ice at PPL Center in a preseason showdown against the New York Islanders on Wednesday, September 20 at 7:05 p.m. This will mark just the third-ever NHL game to be played in the Lehigh Valley.

Philadelphia skated in the Lehigh Valley's first-ever NHL game on September 21, 2015 when the Flyers downed the Islanders inside PPL Center. Last year, Philadelphia earned a 2-0 shutout over the New Jersey Devils in front of a raucous Lehigh Valley crowd on September 28, 2016.

Over the last two years, more than 15,000 fans have poured into PPL Center to watch NHL stars like Claude Giroux, Jake Voracek, Brayden Schenn, Michael Raffl, Travis Konecny, Ivan Provorov and Michal Neuvirth showcase their skills in downtown Allentown.

"This game is a tremendous celebration of the Flyers/Phantoms affiliation and is a true showcase of the successful partnership we've enjoyed through the years," said Phantoms co-owner/governor Jim Brooks.

"It's always exciting to see hockey return to PPL Center," added Phantoms co-owner/governor Rob Brooks. "And it's a thrill to be able to kick off next year's action by welcoming the Flyers and Islanders back to the Lehigh Valley."

Tickets for the preseason showdown are available beginning today to Phantoms season ticket holders through an exclusive pre-sale. What's more, season ticket members will receive a discount on tickets to this highly-anticipated rivalry contest.

Tickets will then be available to the general public beginning on Friday, June 16 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets will be available online at pplcenter.com, by calling 610-347-TIXX [8499] or in-person at the PPL Center Box Office [701 Hamilton Street].

"For the third straight season we are delighted to announce that the Flyers are playing again in Allentown," said Flyers President Paul Holmgren. "This game will give the Lehigh Valley fans not only the chance to see stars on our current Flyers team but also up-and-coming stars of the future. We could not be more pleased with our affiliation with the Phantoms and are honored to be able to play in one of the top arenas in the AHL."

In the team's 21-year history, the Phantoms have helped produce a host of NHL stars including Flyers captain Claude Giroux and 2016 Calder Trophy finalist Shayne Gostisbehere along with three-time Stanley Cup champion Patrick Sharp and two-time Stanley Cup champions Jeff Carter and Mike Richards.
