Ground was broken today for an Allentown Parking Authority Community Lot Parking Deck at 6th and Walnut streets.

The new garage is a seven level, 966 space parking facility with egress/ingress from 6th Street and Walnut Street. Elevator and stair towers are located at the northwest corner of the garage with a stair tower on the southeast corner. A small APA office will be located on the ground level off the Walnut Street entrance. A 50-foot greenway along 6th Street and Walnut Street will be the location of future development. New curbing and sidewalk will be installed surrounding the garage along with lighting and landscaping. Additional pedestrian signals will be added at the 6th and Walnut intersection along with new handicap ramps.
