Star Wars: Rogue One at Union Terrace

The City of Allentown Department of Parks and Recreation presents the kickoff of the 2017 Movies in the Park season on Friday, May 26 with the showing of “Star Wars: Rogue One,” starring Felicity Jones and Diego Luna. The movie is set to begin at dusk at Union Terrace Park amphitheater, located at Union & St. Elmo streets.

“All looks lost for the Rebellion against the Empire as they learn of the existence of a new super weapon, the Death Star. Once a possible weakness in its construction is uncovered, the Rebel Alliance must set out on a desperate mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. The future of the entire galaxy now rests upon its success.”

The approximately 133-minute movie is rated PG-13 and will begin at dusk (approximately 8:30pm).

Movie goers are asked to bring donations of new Star Wars toys to the movie. These will be used as part of Garrison Carida’s mission to help families in need in the community. Garrison Carida is a group of community-minded volunteers serving Pennsylvania and Delaware as part of the 501st Legion, appearing at charitable events and spearheading public service initiatives.

The rain date for “Star Wars: Rogue One,” is Saturday, May 27.

Big Woody’s Restaurant is a sponsor of city events in Union Terrace Park this summer, including the Movie in the Park and the Saturdays in the Park Concert on August 26 featuring NoMaD country music band. Big Woody’s new location at 1928 Hamilton St is now open.

Angelo’s Concessions will be on site this Friday to sell refreshments.
