Retired Fed Narcotics Agents Honor APD Sgt

Allentown Police Sergeant Christopher Diehl was honored today as the Task Force Officer of the Year by the Association of Former Federal Narcotics Agents Philadelphia Chapter. The ceremony was held at the Fraternal Order of Police Hall in Philadelphia.

The award is given each year by the AFFNA to recognize the outstanding successes of an officer assigned as a Task Force Officer to the Drug Enforcement Administration. Sgt. Diehl had been assigned to the Allentown Resident Office since June 2011. Over the past 18 months, he has been the case agent on several domestic and international criminal investigations, seizing more than 355 kg of cocaine, in excess of a kilo of heroin, more than $160,000 in US Currency, approximately 10 firearms and the federal arrest of 22 defendants.

“This is a great honor for Chris, and it is undoubtedly well deserved,” said Allentown Police Chief Keith Morris. “Interagency collaboration is key to the suppression of crime, and Sgt. Diehl embraced that concept, working tirelessly to remove dangerous criminals and drugs from the streets of Allentown.”

“During his tenure with DEA, Sgt. Diehl was an integral member of the DEA Allentown Resident Office,” said Gary Tuggle, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Philadelphia Field Division. “Sgt. Diehl’s contributions to the DEA mission were outstanding. He is the consummate professional who is highly respected by his peers, supervisors, law enforcement partners and prosecutors. He is well deserving of this prestigious award.”

“The Allentown Police Department has a history of assistance and active participation of investigations with our law enforcement partners,” said Mayor Ed Pawlowski. “We are very fortunate to have officers with the investigative skills, drive and determination of Chris Diehl. The results of his work make everyone in this city proud.”

Just last week Sgt. Diehl received the 2016 Chief’s Award for Achievement at the Allentown Police Department commendation ceremony. He was also recognized for his work at the Bethlehem Police Commendation ceremony.
