Dazzling new animated displays are now part of this glowing show. These larger-than-life light spectaculars join traditional favorites set to music, transforming more than a mile of one of Allentown’s most beautiful parks, Lehigh Parkway, into a winter wonderland.  Featuring hundreds of thousands of brilliant lights – this attraction will brighten your holiday season.  Visitors will experience tunnels, favorite holiday scenes and more.

Lights in the Parkway can be viewed on Wednesdays – Sunday from Friday, November 25 – Saturday, December 24 and nightly December 26 – 30 from 5:30pm – 10pm. Lights in the Parkway is closed on Christmas Day.

Another exciting feature for this year’s event: the Sixth Annual Lights in the Parkway 5K and Walk!  The city has again partnered with Run Lehigh Valley to provide this unique opportunity to enjoy the spectacular display. The event will take place on Wednesday, November 23 beginning at 7pm for runners with  walkers to follow.  Interested persons can register and see the course at www.runlehighvalley.com.  Space is limited.  No race day registration is accepted.

At the end of the route, patrons are invited to visit the Gift Barn which features a large selection of one-of-a-kind decorations, ornaments and holiday collectibles for everyone on your holiday shopping list.  Hot chocolate, popcorn, cookies and other refreshments are also offered inside the Gift Barn. New for 2016: Stop by Percy Ruhe (Alton) Park, located at 1519 Oxford Dr. to skate on the city’s synthetic ice skating rink, set up on the lighted basketball courts. Bring your own skates or rent for $2, to support local Allentown non-profits. Specialty coffee and hot chocolate beverages are available at The Perk Up Truck on site.

Lights in the Parkway is sponsored by Allentown Federal Credit Union, Alvin H. Butz, Inc., Lutron, Service Electric Cable TV, 100.7 WLEV and CAT Country 96, B104, WAEB 790, 95.1 WZZO, Run Lehigh Valley, The Morning Call, La Ola Radio, Waste Management, 69 News and WFMZ.com, Viamedia, Jack’s Slice Pizza, and the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The city of Allentown’s Parks Department is the creative talent behind Lights in the Parkway.  Parks’ supervisors, Jason Hertz and Michelle McGinniss and parks staff have provided the lighting expertise needed to produce just the right illumination, shadow and silhouetting effects for this imaginative wonderland.

Lights in the Parkway has entered a new era with the commitment to use energy-efficient LED lights in all new displays and to begin converting all existing displays to LED. LED lights use 85% less energy than traditional bulbs and last about four times longer.
