Conservation Leadership Academy Camp

Tentative Schedule:
Day 1 -- Allentown's park system. Tour of Allentown's parks. Learn about birds, butterflies, botany, and bugs. Learn how to use binoculars. Discuss issues relating to parks: litter, invasive species, overuse,improving parks. 
Day 2 -- Jacobsburg EE Center. Birds and bird banding. Aquatic macro invertebrates and water pollution; Forest ecology and fragmentation; Beltzville State Park -- Kayaking; Conservation Careers.
Day 3 -- Moravian College. Phenology, biodiversity, rain garden project, trees. Tour of college campus, labs and facilites. Meet with undergraduate research interns.
Day 4 -- Lehigh Gap Nature Center. Restoration ecology, pond and river habitat comparison and critters, watershed protection, predator-prey relationships.
Day 5 -- Hike the Appalachian Trail at Lehigh Gap; Pizza Party; Scavenger Hunt.

Location: Meet at Roberto Clemente Charter School each day. Travel in van to selected sites.
Who is eligible: Any student in grade 6-12.
Cost: The Academy is free. Funding for the camp is being provided by the Fowler Family Foundation, Jacobsburg Env. Ed Center, PA DEP, and LGNC
