Learn to Swim
 

Students Ages 4 -13
Cost:$50.00  /  $15.00 discount for City of Allentown Residents ($35.00)
Levels vary according to swimming ability
Registration starts June 8, 2013 at Cedar Pool
Minimum number of participants per level is 5 and the maximum is 10 (1 instructor for every 5 students)

Lessons take place at Cedar Beach Pool Monday - Friday from 11 AM - 11:30 AM

Level 1 - Get comfortable in the water and learn basic freestyle and floating skills

Level 2- Perfect your freestyle, learn basic backstroke, sidestroke,  learn to kneel dive, and how to tread water

Level 3 - Continue perfecting your freestyle and baclstroke; learn breaststroke, rotary breathing, and how to do a standing dive

Level 4- Continue perfecting your freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and standing-dive with the goal of learning the butterfly stroke and increasing your endurance and overall ability to swimmer

Session 1: June 24-July 5 (Cost $36 / $23.00 for City of Allentown residents- No classes on June 28 or July 4 )

Family Water Safety Day 
 

What: Learn how to stay safe around water. Information discussed includes lifejackets, boating safety, imporvised rescue, and more! All those who attend the 2 hour program will be invited to stay at the pool free of charge for the remainder of the day!

Water Polo

We are pleased to bring this great sport to Allentown at Cedar Pool.  Beginner to advanced players welcome!

Pool-N-Paddle

 

Here is your oppurtunity to give canoeing a chance at no extra charge in a safe and controlled environment.

Where: Mack Pool
When: July 24, 2013
Time: 11 AM-1 PM

Cost: Those who arrive at 11 AM will be invited to participate in the program at no charge.  Those who arrive after 11:35 AM will be asked to pay regular admission price and wait until noon.

Dip-n-Dance
 

Join us on all 8 days as we celebrate summer in all of its glory! Come for music, dancing, games, and prizes.  No additional fee to participate.  The DJ will be on site at each location from 1:00 - 3:00 PM.

City of Allentown Resident Swim Card

City of Allentown residents over the age of 60 and those individuals who are collecting disability are eligible for free swimming passes.  In order to claim your pass, you must come into the Recreation Office with proof of residency, a photo id, and proof of disability were necessary. Swimming Towards the Future 
A of Study of Allentown's Pools & Spray Parks

City Council adopted the study on May 16, 2012.  As of now no time line is set. However, each facility will be renovated one at a time with a minimum of 3 public meetings prior to finalizing a design. Email Michelle McGinniss, Aquatics Director, with any questions. Michelle.McGinniss@allentownpa.gov

Swimming Towards the Future is a City of Allentown comprehensive aquatics study that contains the findings and recommendations of a 9-month public planning process, inlcuding input from 800 Allentown residents, stakeholder groups, city departments, and the Aquatics Steering Commitee.

8th Annual Doggie Dip

Cost: $6.00 / $2.00 City of Allentown resident discount ($4.00)

Come and spend a special day with your favorite companion and meet others who share the same interest. Dogs get the chance to play, run free and swim in our City pools after the pools are closed for the summer.

Any dog that becomes aggressive will be asked to leave. Each dog will need to be up to date on all shots and have  2012 dog license or they will not be allowed to participate. 

Monetary donations, food and treats are greatly appreciated by the Lehigh County Humane Society
