Program Description:
The Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program is a comprehensive plan to reduce tobacco use in Lehigh County. The goal is to reduce disease, disability and death related to tobacco use. Preventing the sale of tobacco products to minors and promoting tobacco-free lifestyles is the overall objective of the Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program.

Primary Services

  1. Provide information on tobacco cessation programs available in Lehigh County
  2. Inspect all Lehigh County tobacco retailers to assure compliance with and enforcement of Pennsylvania youth access laws that prohibit tobacco sales to anyone under 18 years of age
  3. Receive and follow-up on complaints of tobacco sales to anyone under 18 years of age
  4. Provide tobacco prevention education programs to youth
  5. Inspect Lehigh County eating establishments to assure compliance with the Pennsylvania Clean Indoor Air LawSacred Heart hospital
  6. Provide information on restaurants and places of entertainment that are smoke-free
  7. Conduct presentation on the harmful effects of Tobacco Smoke Pollution (TSP) in the community
