Home safety surveys involve a personalized education in the home setting. The surveyor takes the family member(s) on room-by-room tour identifying potentially hazardous situations such as poisons stored too low, expired prescriptions, fall hazards, fire and burn hazards, items which can choke or suffocate small children, and other hazards. Surveyors provide recommendations about how to correct hazards and provide free safety items such as pill boxes, bath mats, smoke detectors, cabinet locks, and other safety items. Injury prevention literature is provided.
