Bureau of Planning and Zoning

The Bureau of Planning and Zoning is part of the Department of Community and Economic Development.  It provides guidance and effective management for the growth, preservation, and redevelopment of the City of Allentown, in order to maintain a sustainable 21st Century community.

Downtown on the Move

While Allentown is in the midst of a historic wave of reinvestment, stemming from its downtown core, city leaders have commissioned a planning study that offers initiatives on land use, urban design, transportation, and infrastructure. The study provides a set of recommendations to city boards, commissions, and other key stakeholders and leadership for their full consideration, to inspire and guide further implementation actions. View the planning study and it's companion studies on downtown housing, zoning, and parking.
